The 2008 Jr. Eligible Nike Pistol team (1990 & 1991 players) will be one of the Nike Elite teams eligible to play in the elite Nike college exposure events and all major college exposure events. Of course the team will also plan on playing in major AAU events. This team will be coached by Boscoe McAbee and Jack Feagin who are both coaches with a great history of championship teams and for developing college players for over 15 years. The last team they coached together finished 3rd in the nation. The 2008 Jr. Eligible Pistol Purple team, Pistol 15 Gold coached by Willie Miller and 14 Pistol Gold team (2007 State Champs) coached by Percy Gordon will be top Div. 1 teams playing in many premier college exposure events and all major AAU events.
The Ga. Pistols are also connected with Team Connections (

)
who
are providers of uniforms, shoes and basketball equipment. They will provide some sponsorship to some of our elite teams for this year in the form of shoes and uniforms and provide special team pricing to all teams.
HISTORY
: The North Atlanta Girls' Basketball Club, Inc., a
Georgia
non-profit corporation, is beginning its 17th year. For the first five years the teams were known as the Raiders . Then the club took on its current name of the GEORGIA PISTOLS. The
Ga.
Pistols are the largest and one of the best AAU clubs in the country. The club has grown from one to almost 30 teams.
In 2007 our club won two National Championships
11u AAU National Championship by the 11u Ga. Pistols Gold (1995) coached by Eric Fitzpatrick and the 9u YBOA National Championship by 9u Pistol Gold (1997) coached by Thomas Moede, four AAU State Championships- 9u Pistols Gold, 10 Pistol Gold (1996) (this year 11u will be coached by Lanny Martin) 11u Pistol Gold (1995) and 13 Pistol Gold, two second places and one third. 10u Pistol Gold and 14u Pistol Platinum won YBOA State Championships. In 2007 we sent 5 teams to the Division 1 AAU Nationals and many more to AAU Division 2 and YBOA Nationals. Year by year finishes will be listed on the web site.
Every year our club has multiple teams that finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the State of Georgia and we have been averaging 6 teams each year that earn the right to represent the state at AAU National Tournaments. We are the leading club in winning State Championships and the only top club with secondary teams. Besides top Gold teams we have the best developmental team program in the State which allows all players to play at their right level which may change during their season with improvement.
Colleges
: The number of girls from our program getting college scholarships goes up every year and most are shown on our web site. Each year many pistols get D-1 and D-2 college scholarships at some of the great colleges in
America
. Some of our players who are listed on the top national recruiting lists are lined up to play with the Ga. Pistols for 2008. Developing players to play at the college level is one of the areas where our program excels. We are committed to helping girls get college scholarships and to preparing them to play at the next level.
MISSION
STATEMENT.
Through coaching and good competition we want to take each player to the next level. A detailed mission statement is on our web page.
OUR TEAMS. We expect to have teams for 8u thru 17u. At some age divisions we may have a developmental team which may play in the YBOA program. Very talented players may play on more than one team within our club. Usually there will be two or three activities (practices or games) a week and players are expected to be committed to the program.. During the week, practices will be in the evening after
6:00 p.m. We do try to make our schedule work with girls who also play softball or soccer, but this program is more competitive than a church or recreation program and is not suited for everyone.
PLAYER PLACEMENT.
The program is NOT for recreation purposes. It is designed for girls who desire to play competitive basketball. The number of players selected for teams from the tryouts is determined by available coaches and the number of teams at each age level. We may not be able to accommodate all players. When there are two teams at an age level, one will be more competitive than the other.
ABOUT TRY OUTS. HOW DO I GET MY DAUGHTER INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM? This is easy. Call
404-364-2925 or visit web site: www.gapistols.com for the information and forms for the next tryouts for non high school girls. Tryout dates have yet to be announced. Please note that uour daughter's AAU age is determined as of January 1st prior to the spring season. If your daughter was born on
January 2, 1999 she is a 10u player but if she was born on or before January 1, 1999, she is an 11u.
High School Tryouts: TBD.
Girls who are in high school can not tryout until their school's season is over. We will have a second tryout or make arrangements for high school girls who are in the
H.S.
State Playoffs.

COACHES. The club seeks coaches who have the ability to teach basketball at a highly competitive level and have the temperament to deal with referees and fellow coaches. The coach must be able to develop the individual skills of players, be committed to the ideals of sportsmanship, have high standards of personal character and integrity and have the time and resources to commit to the program. All of our head coaches have significant coaching experience either in AAU or coaching high school basketball. At this time, team assignments for coaching have not been made. Assistant coaches will frequently be parents, but most will have already been involved or have other significant coaching experience.
SPORTSMANSHIP AND CONDUCT. We have a code of conduct for players, parents and coaches which is on our web for viewing. Sportsmanship and good conduct are requirements to be a part of this program.
